Our story

Why we started OpenPresentation

A presentation format for people, agents and the tools we already use.

Our work on presentation tools, including STORYD, kept bringing us back to the same problem: the deck was difficult to work on outside the application that created it.

A person wanted to revise the story. An agent needed to understand the content. A developer wanted to review the change in a codebase. They needed a shared, editable source.

We believed that deserved a new file format, built for all three from the start. That became Open Presentation Format: OPF.

The story belongs in the file

OPF describes slides, content, data and design in plain JSON. People can read it. Agents can work against a schema. Code tools can validate it, track changes and turn it into a presentation.

      "title": "Start with the customer",
      "bullets": ["What do they need?", "What should we do next?"]
    }
  ]
}

The goal is practical: less time translating between tools, more time making a clear argument. Keep OPF as the source; export PowerPoint, PDF or images when you need them.

The format and local tools are open source. You do not need an account or a particular AI provider to use them.
